Palace of The Golden Horses,

Greetings fellow Toastmasters from District 51!

All roads lead to Kuala Lumpur in May! District 51 will be holding its 9th Annual Convention in Kuala Lumpur at the magnificent Palace of the Golden Horses on May 24-26 the Year of the Horse.

On the first day, there will be Business Meetings for both District Officers and Club Officers. Division and Area Governors will be attending our District Executive Committee meeting. Club Presidents and Vice-Presidents Education will represent their respective clubs at the all important District Council meeting. This is an opportunity for Club Officers and Toastmasters to learn more about Toastmasters beyond their Club environment. I look forward to meeting all District Officers and Club Officers at these meetings.

District 51 is most privileged to have our 2001-2002 International President Alfred Herzing DTM grace the convention at the invitation of the District. This will be a rare opportunity for members to meet our International President in person. Meet our International President at the "Meet the International President" session. Hear our International President deliver his keynote speech and learn from his educational session on "Moments of Truth" To top it all, our International President has accepted my invitation to present the "URANUS" award from the Star Series Awards to Clubs which achieve 9 to 10 DCP Goals by April 30.

The organizing committee has planned a convention with a difference . They have been very creative with the aim to mesmerize you with fun-filled learning experiences through interesting educational sessions and "get connected" fellowship evenings.

On the final day, we have the District International Speech Contest which will bring together our very best. The winner will proceed to San Antonia, Texas for the Inter-District International Speech Contest in August 2002.

All roads lead to Kuala Lumpur in May! Take Control and Create Your Destiny!

Topic : " Take Control Of Your Destiny"

Fate often interrupts our plans, with a positive attitude and positive action, you control what happens. As you take control of your destiny, you need goals to provide you with direction. A person without a goal is like a ship without a rudder. If you are on track, wonderful! If you’re not as far along as you would like, it’s time to take action. Mr Herzing will share with you : · The dynamic impact of how to control your destiny by setting goals.

His journey from a plain gentlemen to International President · The joy of making things happen rather than to wait for things to happen · To understand that destiny will throw some challenges in your path, let’s consider them opportunities. The Speaker DTM Alfred Herzing is currently International President of Toastmasters International – the world’s leading organisation devoted to teaching public speaking skills. He has been a dedicated Toastmaster for more than 16 years, helping to realize the public speaking potential of more than 179,000 members in over 70 countries. Objective of public talks by International President is to make aware the Toastmasters activities. Therefore, there will be members of the audience who would like to know how to get a new club chartered or how to join as a Toastmaster.
